G-Mark Certification for Toys and Electricals In Saudi Arabia

The G-MARK certification ensures that products conform to specific standards set by the GSO. It demonstrates that the products meet safety, quality, and performance requirements, allowing them to be sold in the GCC member states. G-Mark is now a requirement for Household Appliances being sold into member countries of the Gulf Standardization Organization (GSO) as defined within the Low Voltage Technical Regulation, BD142004-01.

The Gulf Conformity Mark (G-Mark) is a specific marking of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). It is affixed to a product and/or its packaging to indicate that the product is in compliance with requirements set out in the applicable Gulf Technical Regulations.

It was initially implemented for toys on January 1, 2014. In July 2016, the requirement was expanded to include a range of electrical products, including:

  • Domestic electrical fans

  • Refrigerators, freezers and similar items

  • Washing machines

  • Food grinders and mixers, fruit juicers and similar items

  • Toasters

  • Hairdressing appliances

  • Room heaters

  • Water heaters

  • Microwave ovens

  • Other ovens

  • Air conditioners

  • Plugs and sockets and similar items

  • Irons and similar items

Use of the Gulf Conformity Tracking Symbol (GCTS) – a QR code – to represent the G-Mark became mandatory on April 1, 2017. The GCTS provides the consumer with detailed information about the product. It is required for applicable products that are to be exported to GCC Standards Organization (GSO) member states: United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Yemen.
